Summer Bridging Institute returns in person for 19th year

The Academy for Teacher Excellence Research Center (ATE) will host its 19th Summer Bridging Institute (SBI) July 11-15 from 9am-4pm at the UTSA Downtown Campus.

The institute helps prepare teacher candidates for their first year of clinical teaching while serving as a professional development series for teachers of all experience levels. In addition to teachers, the SBI is open to university and high school students, school administrators, and parents and other community members. Registration is free.

ELPS Named Vetted Principal Residency Program by TEA

The Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies (ELPS) has been named a Vetted Principal Residency Program by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). According to the TEA, a principal residency is the pairing of a graduate-level principal candidate with an experienced mentor for a full year without any teaching obligations.

Students from the Bicultural-Bilingual Studies department's Teaching English as a Second Language program recently wrapped up a fun and exciting study abroad trip to Guadalajara, Mexico. Students could immerse themselves in Guadalajara's culture while observing and teaching in a premiere Spanish-English dual language school.
