National Science Foundation Centers of Research Excellence in Science and Technology (CREST) Summary: CREST Centers promote faculty engagement in research activities at the highest level. An educational environment based on discovery will be vibrant, with
both undergraduate and graduate students engaged in the process of discovery and innovation through modern and relevant curricula, courses, and research experiences. Students will have opportunities to become significant participants in the broader community
of scholarship in their respective fields. Minority-serving institutions offer an opportunity to engage student and faculty populations from underrepresented groups in numbers that can have a significant impact, consistent with the NSF goal to broaden participation
and with the NSF mission: to promote the progress of science; to advance the national health, prosperity, and welfare; to secure the national defense and to ensure that research is fully integrated with education so that today's revolutionary work will also
be training tomorrow's top scientists and engineers. In addition to bolstering the research infrastructure and research competitiveness of MSIs of higher education, the CREST program seeks to increase the workforce presence of individuals from groups underrepresented
in STEM fields. Attentiveness to career development of the women and men working with senior faculty researchers in all CREST Centers can play an important role in diversifying the national STEM workforce. Institutional Limit:
Only one preliminary CREST Center proposal may be submitted per institution. Full CREST Center proposals are to be submitted only when invited by NSF. Award Information: 5 years, $5,000,000 |

is required no later than 5:00 pm on January 25th, 2016.
An
Internal Application is due no later than 5:00 pm on February 1st, 2016.

Investigators who wish to be considered for a specific program must submit an Internal Email of Intent with a project title and list of key personnel to
limitedsubmissions@utsa.edu by
the specified due date.

Online Application Form
will now be used in lieu of the paper form and will no longer require signatures or submission through Research Service Centers. The submitted form will be automatically forwarded to the Office of Research Support,
along with the Principal Investigator’s respective Associate Dean for Research, Department Chair, Director, and Research Service Center as applicable.
