Good Afternoon,

The Office of Research Support would like to remind faculty that the below Seed Grant opportunities opened for application.   Please forward the email  below to  all faculty members in your respective college.

The Office of the Vice President of Research (VPR) is committed to supporting UTSA faculty in their efforts to get funded.  These funding opportunities focus on all areas of research, and encourage faculty to seek out new financial opportunities.

The VPR provides financial support for several internal funding programs, such as:

The GREAT program will provide seed grants to support new areas of research for faculty at UTSA. The primary goal of these awards will be to assemble preliminary data that can be used to seek extramural funding and advance UTSA’s goal of reaching Tier I status. It is expected that up to six grants for a maximum of $20,000 each may be awarded annually, based on availability of funds. Deadline: March 15th

The INTRA program is part of The UTSA Vice President for Research's coordinated efforts to promote research and scholarship of the highest quality. This program offers experience in identifying and submitting applications to potential funding sources, provides preliminary data to support applications for extramural funding, and enhances scholarly and creative activities. The program is awarding approximately 20 grants of $5,000 each to winning applications. Deadline: March 1st

The Connect program is a joint effort between The UTSA and the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI). Both organizations are committed to funding the highest caliber of research and are contributing extensive funding toward that end. The combined contributions of the two organizations are $125,000, of which UTSA will dedicate $50,000. Deadline: March 31st

The Proposal Enhancement Program (PEP) provides funding for faculty to continue current research programs at The UTSA that demonstrate a high likelihood of successfully competing for future federal funding. PEP applications must contain efforts to address recent grant critiques from federal sponsors (e.g., NIH, NSF, DoD, DoED), state, or philanthropic granting organizations. Support will be provided for the preparation of a future grant submission utilizing the sponsor’s corresponding grant critique. Deadline: Ongoing

The San Antonio Life Sciences Institute and the SALSI Academy award grants to seven research proposals. These grants are from the SALSI Postdoctoral Initiative Pilot Program, the SALSI Innovation Challenge, and the SALSI Clusters in Research Excellence. Each proposal is designed to utilize SALSI’s multidisciplinary and collaborative research environment to solve problems in the life sciences, foster cutting-edge research, and significantly raise the international research profile of The University of Texas at San Antonio and The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
