Dear Colleagues,

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Michael Karcher, Professor in the Department of Educational Psychology, to his new role within the COHED as Associate Dean for Research.  Dr. Karcher assumed responsibilities as of Monday, September 17, 2018 and will work with me, the faculty, and the Vice President for Research to continue to build the research infrastructure within the college and  increase our portfolio in the area of external funding and research expendatures. Additionally, Dr. Karcher will work closely with Dr. Monica Treviño and Raitza Garcia to create a strong research and development team and  identify opportunities, facilitate faculty collaboration, and build capacity in the area of external funding. As you know, achieving R1 and NRUF status is central to the mission of the university, and is a way to enhance student success, which is our number one goal. Dr. Karcher has a  strong history of success in research and external funding, and will be an important member of the COEHD leadership team.

I look forward to your continued engagement, excellent work, and collegiality as we begin the 2018-2019 academic year with Dr. Karcher in this new roll.
