Dr. Jerome Harste, award-winning educator and professor emeritus at Indiana University, spoke to local San Antonio teachers and members of the San Antonio Writing Project (SAWP) about art and writing at the UTSA Downtown Campus on Saturday, February 7. The
talk was part of SAWP’s Teacher’s Conference, an annual event that brings together local educators, SAWP members, and UTSA faculty and students.

Vincent Carales, doctoral student in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, has been accepted to present his research, "Equal educational opportunity and the South Texas Border Initiative: Addressing issues of equity, access, and funding
in higher education,” at the American Educational Research Association (AERA) Conference this spring in Chicago. He was also invited to participate in the Division J (post-secondary) Emerging Scholars Workshop.

Dr. Rosalind Horowitz was recognized for her outstanding contributions to undergraduate and graduate students at The University of Texas at San Antonio's Ambassador’s Amber Dinner. Student ambassadors honored one faculty or staff member who had contributed
to their growth or inspired them during their years as a student by speaking of the meaningful relationships and the impact each honoree had on their lives.

The Texas Association for Counselor Education and Supervision (TACES) recognized three College of Education and Human Development faculty and students for their outstanding performance during the association's mid-winter conference. Award winners were Dr. Thelma
Duffey, Outstanding Counselor Educator; Dr. Heather Trepal, Outstanding Advocacy Award; and Angellica Tello, Outstanding Graduate Student Award.
