Thank you for sharing the video link with us. I cannot wait to watch it. Mrs. Ortiz and her legacy have left her mark for generations to come. Her love of music and willingness to share her God-given talents have been such a blessing to not only our SA community, but to all of our children and youth via the establishment of the mariachi curriculum in public education. Her will to fight for our traditions and culture to be represented in the curriculum has forever changed the place Mariachi music has taken among the various types of music and art forms in our school system. She is a champion of our culture!

The video on Belle Ortiz is just wonderful! I remember working with her when I was superintendent of the Harlandale ISD to create a Mariachi program for our middle and high school students! We had over 150 students show up for the first meeting!!! We put the program in all of our middle and high schools!
