Westmeyer
family visits COEHD
The family of the late Dr. Paul Westmeyer, including his daughter, grandson, and great grandchildren, visited the College of Education and Human Development's Dean's Office this week. Westmeyer served as the college's associate dean for Graduate Studies
and Research until his passing in 2006. His wood carving work can be found displayed in the Main Campus Dean's Office.

to offer special event service to Texas Folklife Festival

VIA Metropolitan Transit will offer special event park and ride service June 10 through 12 to the 45th annual Texas Folklife Festival as a solution to traffic and parking challenges downtown. The festival will be held at the Institute
of Texan Cultures at 801 E. Cesar Chavez Blvd.

Computer
program shows promise for reducing ADHD symptoms

Children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder who played a computer-based attention-training game for eight weeks showed substantial improvements in inattentive and hyperactive-impulsive symptoms, a study found. The study
revealed that those with severe ADHD symptoms yielded greater outcomes following the intervention, compared with other children.

supporting bilingualism from early ages can have wide ranging benefits, from cognitive and social advantages early in life, to long-term employment opportunities and competitiveness in the workplace. This statement is part of ED's ongoing commitment to ensure
that dual language learners, including immigrants and refugees, have access to high quality supports, which is especially important as we celebrate Immigrant Heritage Month.
