Limited Submissions Announcement

A limited submission opportunity is available from the Oak Ridge Associated Universities and has been posted to the UTSA Limited Submissions webpage.  

ORAU Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Awards

The Ralph E. Powe Junior Faculty Enhancement Awards provide seed money for research by junior faculty. These awards are intended to enrich the research and professional growth of young faculty and result in new funding opportunities.

Research projects must fall within one of these five disciplines:

· Engineering and Applied Science

· Life Sciences

· Mathematics/Computer Sciences

· Physical Sciences

· Policy, Management, or Education

Eligibility

· Full-time assistant professor;

· Within two years of their initial tenure track appointment at the time of application (Jan. 1, 2019 through Jan. 8, 2021)

Application Limit

An applicant/institution may select up to two (2) junior faculty members to be considered for the award.

Award Amount

The award amount provided by ORAU is $5,000. The applicant’s institution is required to match the award with at least an additional $5,000. This is a one-year grant (June 1 to May 31).

Application Process

The following materials should be sent to Limitedsubmissions@utsa.edu:

(1) Nominee’s two-page proposal (PDF format only)

(2) Nominee’s CV (two-page maximum, PDF format only)

(3) Resource Commitment Form(s) 

These instructions supersede the standard Limited Submissions Guidelines.

Cost Share Requirement

This award requires a match of at least an additional $5,000.

A Resource Commitment Form has been developed for documenting resource commitments, including cost-share, specifically for limited submission opportunities. The form and instructions for it can be found here: http://research.utsa.edu/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/LS-Resource-Commitment-Form.pdf. All applicable Resource Commitment Forms are due at the time of submission, 11:59pm on November 17, 2020.

Internal Evaluation Criteria

The attached review matrix will be utilized for internal review/scoring. Pre-proposals should be responsive to these criteria.
