UTSA celebrates inaugural National Hispanic-Serving Institutions Week

The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) will join hundreds of universities from around the United States to celebrate the inaugural National Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI) Week. The weeklong celebration began on Sept. 14 and continues through Sept. 20, coinciding with the start of Hispanic Heritage Month.

UTSA partnership with Methodist Healthcare to give students hands-on training

The UTSA Department of Kinesiology, Health and Nutrition in the College of Education and Human Development has announced a partnership with Methodist Healthcare System of San Antonio that will give UTSA students hands-on training in cardiology patient care while providing research opportunities designed to improve clinical services and outcomes.

CMAS at UT Austin announces call for proposals for El Mundo Zurdo 2015

The Center for Mexican American Studies (CMAS) at the University of Texas at Austin in cooperation with the Society for the Study of Gloria Anzaldúa are honored to serve as the host of “El Mundo Zurdo 2015: Memoria y Conocimiento, Interdisciplinary Anzalduan Studies—Archive, Legacy, and Thought.”  The conference will take place May 27-30, 2015 on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin. Details on the conference schedule will be announced in January 2015.

National School Success Month: Lack of buy-in equals a disconnected system

Accelerated Schools is based on three principles: Unity of Purpose, Building on Strengths, and Empowerment with Responsibility. When there is a deviation from these principles, there is a disconnect. This can create a “smoke and mirrors” effect between campus administration and the central office regarding empowerment on campus.

TEA Seeking Federal Grant To Expand Pre-K In Texas
