Hello,
We hope this message finds you well. Please find below communication and attached flyers from the RESPETO team regarding their upcoming seminar series.
Dear colleagues:
The RESPETO Project is excited to host a seminar series exploring the critical role of language in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education. The seminars in this series will discuss the complexities of language, particularly how it intersects with racial equity and inclusion within higher education.
Join us for the first session featuring Dr. Amy Slaton, a renowned STEM historian!
Dr. Slaton will explore how historical narratives and power dynamics shape the way we communicate scientific and technological concepts. This session will be followed by a workshop on discourse analysis, offering practical tools to analyze and deconstruct language in STEM education.
RSVP for workshop is required! Space is limited, so please secure your spot by emailing respeto@utsa.edu.
Stay tuned! We look forward to welcoming you to this exciting series.
Save the date: Upcoming Speakers (subject to change)
We encourage faculty to share this invitation with their students!
Don't miss this opportunity to gain valuable insights and build a more inclusive STEM learning environment.
Best,
The RESPETO Team
