COEHD Employees and Supervisors,
As we kick off the new performance year the first step in the process is goal setting. All employee, in conjunction with their managers, should discuss priorities for the upcoming year and develop goals. Goals should be simplistically written and clearly define what the employee is going to do (use SMART goal guidelines). Each employee should have between three and seven goals, which should be strategic in nature, not daily tasks. All goals are due to be entered in the ePerformance platform and approved by their manager by November 7, 2020. I recommend to have your employees submit their goals in the ePerformance platform by October 30th so managers will then have through November 7th to review and approve the goals in the system to meet the university deadline.
There are several tools and resources available on the Performance Management webpage that explain the information on the new process. I would recommend each leader review these to ensure they understand the process and help guide their employee’s along the way.
· Facilitator lead Performance management training sessions for employees and managers. You can sign up here (Course title: Introduction to Performance Management at UTSA <SD 640>). Dates for upcoming training is on the website. The PowerPoint of the "live" training will be available on the website at the end of this week and a video recording of one of the sessions that we have conducted will be available on the website by the end of October.
· Class highlight videos to help give a great overview and snapshot of each process (they are about 8-12 min). One of the videos covers an overview of performance management, one is about SMART goals and the last one is on navigating the ePerformance platform in PeopleSoft.
· Learning Guides and Job aids are available too. The first 4 job aids are for any employee. There are 5 job aids for managers/supervisors.
To access this information please visit the Performance Management Website: https://www.utsa.edu/hr/performance-management/ and go to the “Performance Management Training” section.
Below is a screen shot of the website. The videos and job aids sections are circled.

The class highlighted videos are a great resource, if you can’t attend the classes.
The class PowerPoint is attached for your review.
