| Dietetics
students participate in international symposium |
Master's students in the Coordinated Program in Dietetics recently attended the International Symposium on Diabetes & Cardio Metabolic Disease, which featured the work of Dr. Ralph DeFronzo (pictured center), a world renowned diabetes researcher and physician.
The students participated in multiple comprehensive sessions that included the Pathophysiology of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, Cardiovascular Outcome Trials and Diabetes, and Insulin Therapy & T2DM. (Courtesy of Dr. Liset Leal-Vasquez)

Graduate
assistant research positions available |
The College of Education and Human Development (in collaboration with UTSA’s University College and College of Engineering)
is seeking 2-3 graduate students to work on a new 4-year research and development project funded by the National Science Foundation titled“Transforming STEM Undergraduate Education through Academic Literacy, Mentoring and Professional Development”. The project
builds on UTSA's and the NSF's dedication to increasing diversity in the STEM workforce by increasing the number of undergraduate underrepresented minorities who graduate from the UTSA Colleges of Engineering and Sciences. Graduate assistants will support
the development, implementation, and analysis of STEM lessons that focus on academic literacy practices. The overall goal is to promote curricular change that focuses on the intersection of academic literacy and content competencies to improve student learning
and success.
Applications
Candidates should email a brief letter of interest indicating their background and experience, and a resume to directly to Dr. Solís at <Jorge.Solis@utsa.edu> and Dr. Langman at <Juliet.Langman@utsa.edu.> The review of applications will begin October 2, 2018,

This is an opportunity for Faculty to present Research-- in past, present, and future areas of inquiry-- that are published
or to be published. Doctoral students may present with Faculty in ILT or other units of the College and University,and share trajectories that may lead to Dissertations, Theses or publications. Faculty will have an opportunity to learn about other Faculty
Scholarly Research.
