INVITATION FOR NOMINATIONS AND APPLICATIONS
Reporting directly to the Provost and Executive Vice President, Dr. Erika Beck, the Dean of the School of Education will provide leadership and oversight for the strategic, academic, intellectual, and administrative affairs of the College, including faculty development, research, external relations, and all measures of student success. The Dean will be charged with helping to create a shared vision for the School that will support the College’s commitment to teaching excellence and advance its mission to provide high quality undergraduate programs and graduate programs in education and integrative real-world experiences, both local and global, for the students.
THE COLLEGE
Located in Henderson, a family-oriented suburb of Las Vegas, Nevada, this dynamic 12-year-old College is the fastest growing in the Nevada System of Higher Education and one of the fastest growing in the United
States. While many institutions are struggling with enrollment and financial challenges, NSC is an institution on the move with confidence and energy. In a very few years, NSC has many accomplishments, including those listed below.

12 years of steady growth from 177 students in 2002 to over 3500 in 2014;

100 percent of tenured or tenure-track faculty hold terminal degrees;

70 percent retention rate from freshman to sophomore year;

INITIAL QUALIFICATIONS
·
A doctorate from a regionally accredited institution in a discipline represented in a College or School of Education;
·
Three years of demonstrated academic leadership at a public or private two- or four-year college or university at the department chair or higher level in a College or School of Education; and
· Eligible for tenure at Nevada State College with the rank of Associate Professor or Professor in the School of Education.
PREFERRED ATTRIBUTES OF LEADERSHIP
Fullest consideration will be given to candidates with demonstrated experiences and abilities in:
· Demonstrated success in recruitment and retention of a diverse, non-traditional, and first-generation student population;
· Effectively managed an administrative budget consistent with campus and state resources;
· Successful record of hiring, evaluating and managing creative faculty and staff at the college level;
· Has engaged in successful regional or national accreditation;
· Keen ability to identify, develop and maintain meaningful relationships with internal and external constituencies and agencies;
· Demonstrated success with external grant writing and fund raising; and
· Experience in leading data-driven decision-making.
