UTSA hosts 70 Mexican students for summer English camp

The University of Texas at San Antonio’s Office of ESL Services welcomed more than 70 undergraduate Mexican students and 14 faculty members from three Mexican universities at a special Welcome Ceremony on Friday, July 18, 2014. The students, which came from the Universidad de Guadalajara, Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León, and Universidad Autónoma del Estado de Hidalgo, are participating in the Intensive English Summer Camp, which began on Wednesday, July 16, 2014.

COU professor elected president of ACA

Dr. Thelma Duffey, professor and department chair in the College of Education and Human Development’s Department of Counseling, was elected to serve as president of the American Counseling Association (ACA). Duffey will assume her role as the association’s 64th president on July 1, 2015.

UTSA’s Nate Leonard tabbed Conference USA Scholar-Athlete of the Year

Conference USA announced last week its 2013-14 Scholar-Athletes of the Year, and Roadrunners Academic All-American Nate Leonard was the recipient for football.

Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas awards scholarships to six UTSA students

The San Antonio Chapter of the Hispanic Women’s Network of Texas (HWNT) recently hosted its 10th annual scholarship breakfast and honored scholarship award recipients including five young women from UTSA. This year, the HWNT awarded $22,500 in scholarships to 13 students who completed three Latinas in Progress program sessions, which offer personal and professional development.

Fafsa Fix Will Mean Less Aid for Many
