“Engaging with Fulbright: A Virtual Workshop for HSIs”

This interactive workshop is designed to help HSI faculty and staff learn how to make the most
of the resources and training that Fulbright provides, whether you are already involved with Fulbright or are looking to get started.
Join us as our panel of campus experts -- faculty and administrators from this year’s Fulbright
HSI Institutional Leaders – share best practices and tips on how to do more with Fulbright, including advising students, assisting faculty, and hosting Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistants, Fulbright
Scholars-in-Residence, Fulbright Foreign Students, Fulbright Visiting Scholars, and Fulbright Outreach Lecturing Fund visiting lecturers. They will also share suggestions on how to create or advocate for policies that are Fulbright-friendly and foster a Fulbright
culture on your campus.
Prior to the workshop, all registrants will receive a video on “Fulbright
Fundamentals” with an overview of the Fulbright Student and Scholar Programs to review at your convenience, so the workshop can focus on the discussion and Q&A with Fulbright Program Advisers, Fulbright Scholar Liaisons, and senior-level administrators.

About Fulbright and Additional Information & Opportunities
The Fulbright Program, the United States government’s flagship international educational and cultural
exchange program, awards approximately 8,000 merit-based grants every year to accomplished students, scholars, teachers, artists, and professionals of all backgrounds and fields. The Fulbright Program offers the opportunity to study, teach and conduct research,

OPPORTUNITIES
FOR U.S. HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS
The
Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant Program (FLTA) places early career educators as Foreign Language Teaching Assistants at U.S. colleges and universities — improving U.S. students’ foreign language
abilities and knowledge of other countries. U.S. schools can apply to host FLTAs in over 30 languages. U.S. campuses enhance the teaching of languages and expose students to a true understanding of people of different nations.
The
Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence (S-I-R) Program is a unique Fulbright Scholar Program initiative that is specifically driven by the goals of U.S. institutions of higher education to enhance internationalization
efforts on their campuses. Through the S-I-R Program, institutions host a scholar from outside of the United States for a semester or full academic year to teach courses, assist in curriculum development, guest lecture, develop study abroad/exchange partnerships
and engage with the campus and the local community.
The
Outreach Lecturing Fund (OLF) provides funding for campuses, especially Minority Serving Institutions, Community Colleges, Small Liberal Arts Colleges, Women’s Colleges and Art Colleges, and geographically underrepresented
institutions, to host Fulbright Visiting Scholars already in the United States for short-term speaking engagements. The OLF award is designed to enrich both institutions and Visiting Scholars through lectures that promote academic disciplines and cultural
understanding.
