To COEHD Faculty and Staff - As part of the start to the new academic year, I want to share with you an upcoming event sponsored by the Faculty Center that you and your students may be interested in. The Faculty Center is sponsoring Keynote speaker, Dr. Freeman Hrabowski, President of the University of Maryland at Baltimore County. It is one of the leading institutions in helping first generation and students of color to get a higher education and in particular, in the STEM fields and Dr. Hrabowski is one of the most prominent higher education leaders.

He will be speaking on Thursday, September 25th in the Ground Floor Auditorium of the Main Building at the Main Campus starting at 6pm. Prior to his talk, we are hosting a reception for faculty only in the Faculty Center from 5pm.

You will see notices in the coming weeks, but I wanted to give you an advance notice in case you want to plan ahead and bring your class. If you want to bring your students, please do, but contact Dr. Mary Dixson at mary.dixson@utsa.edu and let her know that you are bringing your class and how many students will attend. The seating will be limited since the auditorium only holds 400 people and it will be done on a first come, first serve basis. I am attaching a link to one of his talk on TedX. He is very engaging and dynamic and I hope you will attend and if applicable, bring your students.
