Good afternoon everyone,

The Office of Research is ready to launch our FY26 Internal Funding Opportunities (seed grants programs). Please share this information with the faculty in your respective colleges. The RFPs with information on how to apply, faculty eligibility and a full program timeline are attached to this email as well as briefly described below. This information will also be available on the Internal Funding Opportunities webpage within the next week.

We are also excited to announce a Seed Grant Workshop and Teaming Lunch scheduled for January 17, 2025. This event provides an excellent opportunity for faculty to connect with potential collaborators from UTSA and researchers from the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI). Faculty should register by January 10, 2025, to secure their spot!

Grants for Research Advancement and Transformation (GREAT): Sponsored by the UTSA Office of Research, this opportunity supports new areas of research for faculty at UTSA. The primary goal of these awards is to assemble preliminary data that can be used to seek extramural funding and advance UTSA’s institutional research excellence goals.
Internal Research Awards (INTRA): As part of the UTSA Office of Research’s coordinated efforts to promote research and scholarship of the highest quality, this program offers funding for faculty to gain experience in identifying and submitting proposals for extramural funding, gather preliminary data to support applications for extramural funding, and enhance scholarly and creative activities. 
Transdisciplinary Teams (T2): Sponsored by the UTSA Office of Research, this opportunity offers supports UTSA faculty members engaging in scholarly research activities that foster transdisciplinary collaborations. The primary goal of these awards is to assemble teams of researchers from different disciplines that will establish a foundation to seek extramural funding, ultimately advancing UTSA’s research excellence goals. 
Connecting through Research Partnerships (Connect): Connecting through Research Partnerships (Connect): Sponsored by the UTSA Office of Research and the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI), this opportunity offers support to enhance greater scientific collaboration between the two institutions and encourages interaction between investigators in support of the acquisitions of established extramural, peer-reviewed research funding. For this cycle, UTSA and SwRI have agreed on the targeted areas of Biomedicine and Biotechnology; Artificial Intelligence / Data Sciences / Analytics; and Smart and Secure Manufacturing. The proposal must have a direct application to solving industrial, governmental, or societal problems.
*Note – The NOI deadlines listed above are part of a separate and distinct notification process and are do not fulfill the Office of Sponsored Projects 15/5 rule. An internal Notice to the College Research Administration Team (first page of Routing Form) must be submitted in addition to the InfoReady Notice of Intent for a faculty member to be eligible for full submission.
