UTSA, through the UT System Texas Venture Connect (TVC) program, can provide access to a world-class group of mentors to help guide you through your next successful business. The TVC combines experienced mentors/domain experts with UT innovators and accelerates commercialization and entrepreneurship in a scalable manner. We will discuss how, as a mission agency, DOE differs from NSF and

NIH, how DOE is organized, how the different parts of DOE differ, how

funding opportunities are announced, how to talk to Program Officers,

what DOE staff and reviewers are looking for, and how to develop

This session will focus on pursuing funding from the Department of

Education as well as on pursuing funding for STEM education research

from NSF. Other funders of education research, including the Spencer

Foundation, will also be discussed. We will talk about types of grants, the

roles of program officers and how to approach them, how proposals are

reviewed, and what reviewers are looking for.
