AM0589 Research Proposals and Budget Development will be taught by Jesse Hernandez on the following date.

Description: 

This course provides an introduction to topics related to financial operations of sponsored programs (research grants and contracts), including how to establish a financial reporting system, budgeting, effort reporting, preparing for and engaging in an audit, procuring resources, and sub-contracting. Participants learn how to translate the financial terms of a proposal into a project budget and how to engage in specialized oversight and reporting, such as required for projects undertaken within the Government Service Accounts (GSA) Schedule.

 Objectives:

By attending this course participants will be able to:

·      Explain what sponsored programs are how they function at UTSA, identify all of the steps involved in designing a research budget from its inception to its report, and contrast and compare the designation process for direct or indirect costs.

AM0549 Office of Research Administration Government Contacts Training will be taught by Jennifer Latta on the following date.

Description:

This course will allow administrative support staff to identify the processes related to sponsored programs at UTSA. Presenter will discuss Uniform Guidance guiding principle of allowable, allocable, and reasonable costs. Participants will learn how to view available project budgets and balances in PeopleSoft. Eforms, purchase orders, vouchers, and travel related costs for projects to be covered. Other topics will include cost sharing definition and procedures; cost transfers; budget transfers; and IDT processing for sponsored projects.

 

Objectives:

By attending this course,

·      Participants will be able to view available budgets and balances for sponsored projects in PeopleSoft.

·      Participants will learn the definitions of allowable, allocable, and reasonable costs as related to sponsored projects.

·      Participants will be able to identify when a cost transfer is required to correct expenditures, including salary and wages.

·      Participants will learn about cost sharing, purchase orders, vouchers and travel as related to sponsored projects

·      Participants will learn about Research Service Centers (RSCs) and Grants, Contracts, and Financial Services (GCFS).

FS0128 Introduction to Research Administration will be taught by Angelika Rocha on the following date.

Description:

Introduction to Research Administration is a short survey course designed to help individuals build a foundational body of knowledge within research administration. Coursework focuses on familiarity with the terms, basic concepts, policies and practices within the field of research with a view towards how they are applied from a University of Texas San Antonio perspective.

 

Objectives:

By attending this course, participants will be able to: 

·      Understand the UTSA research enterprise

·      Summarize current issues within Research Administration

·      Define some common research administration vocabulary

·      Describe the role of a research administrator Identify the offices responsible for support and oversight of sponsored projects within the university
