UTSA and Morgan’s MAC showcase impactful disability research

 

UTSA and Morgan’s Multi-Assistance Center (MAC) recently co-hosted the 2024 San Antonio Disability Research Forum. Among the attendees were UTSA President Taylor Eighmy and Gordon Hartman, founder of the Gordon Hartman Family Foundation and Morgan's MAC.

 

 

 

 

 

Dr. Mariela A. Rodríguez appointed co-editor of the American Educational Research Journal

 

Mariela A. Rodríguez, Ph.D., professor in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy Studies, was appointed as a co-editor of the American Educational Research Journal (AERJ) for the American Educational Research Association (AERA) for the 2025-2027 volume years. AERJ is AERA’s flagship journal, featuring articles that advance the empirical, theoretical, and methodological understanding of education and learning.

 

 

 

 

ATE’s Summer Bridging Institute offers insightful professional development for educators

 

The Academy for Teacher Excellence (ATE) will host its 21st Summer Bridging Institute from July 9-11, 9 a.m.to 4 p.m. at the UTSA Downtown Campus, featuring a book presentation. The institute offers professional development workshops by local educators for current and future educators of all grades and subjects.

 

 

 

 

SAISD academy celebrates 5 years of MAS

 

Bonham Academy celebrates five years of MAS. Students share their enthusiasm for Mexican American Studies (MAS), describing it as an important yet complex subject. Anita Cisneros, a MAS teacher, reflects on the historical struggle for ethnic studies in the classroom.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Congratulations to Aaron Galliher, an ILT doctoral candidate, whose recent paper, “Pedagogy: Connecting How and Why – Engaging Aural Skills Students with Model-Eliciting Activities” was chosen as one of two graduate student paper awards at the Pedagogy Into Practice Conference 2024. In addition to receiving an honorarium, Aaron’s paper will be published in The Journal of Music Theory.

Sharpie Comics Workshop: Finding your Voice with Polly Guo

Craft a comic to create your own narrative and find your voice through storytelling. Participants will learn to create characters that are self-reflective and through a community lens. Polly will teach workshop attendees how to draw, write, and assemble their own comic, all by using papers, sticky notes, and sharpies! The workshop is open to the public. Previous art experience not required!
