Good Afternoon All,
Please see below seed grant opportunities offered under the Office of the Vice President for Research, Economic Development, and Knowledge Enterprise (VPREDKE) that can be distributed within your respective college.
The Grants for Research Advancement and Transformation (GREAT) program, sponsored by the UTSA REDKE, is offering seed grants to support new areas of research for faculty at UTSA. The primary goal of these awards is to assemble preliminary data that can be used to seek extramural funding and advance UTSA’s institutional research excellence goals (NRUF, AAU, etc.). It is expected that up to four grants for a maximum of $20,000 each may be awarded.
NOI Deadline: February 15, 2023 and Proposal Deadline: March 8, 2023
The Internal Research Awards (INTRA) program is part of the UTSA REDKE coordinated efforts to promote research and scholarship of the highest quality. This program offers funding for faculty to gain experience in identifying and submitting proposals for extramural funding, gather preliminary data to support applications for extramural funding, and enhance scholarly and creative activities. It is anticipated that twenty grants of $5,000 each may be awarded.
NOI Deadline: February 22, 2023 and Proposal Deadline: March 22, 2023
The Connecting through Research Partnerships (Connect) program sponsored by the Office of the VPREDKE at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) and the Southwest Research Institute (SwRI), is a grant opportunity offered to enhance greater scientific collaboration between the two institutions and to increase both UTSA’s and SwRI’s research-funding base with cross-campus collaborative programs. The program encourages interaction between investigators in support of the acquisitions of established extramural, peer-reviewed research funding. This agreement provides unprecedented opportunities for researchers to work together in addressing issues of mutual interest and need. For this cycle, UTSA and SwRI have agreed on the targeted areas of Human Performance and Urban Challenges. The proposal must have direct application to solving industrial, governmental, or societal problems. The combined contributions of the two organizations are $125,000, of which UTSA will dedicate $50,000.
Proposal Deadline: March 22, 2023
The Transdisciplinary Teams (T2) program, sponsored by the Office of the Vice President for Research, Economic Development & Knowledge Enterprise (REDKE) at The University of Texas
at San Antonio (UTSA) in collaboration with the City of San Antonio (CoSA), is a grant opportunity offered to enhance greater intellectual collaboration between the two institutions
and to increase both UTSA’s and CoSA’s research-funding base with inter-institutional collaborative programs. It is anticipated that 2 grants of $25,000 each may be awarded.
NOI Deadline: March 8, 2023 and Proposal Deadline: April 5, 2023
The RFPs with information on how to apply, faculty eligibility and deadlines are attached. RFPs will also be available for download on the VPREDKE’s Internal Seed Grant Programs page.
* Note – The NOI deadline listed above is a process that is separate and distinct from a notification to the RSC for application development and approval prior to submission. Interested faculty should contact their respective Research Service Centers (RSC) to complete a Notice to the RSC (first page of Routing Form) at least 15 business days prior to proposal deadline.
