ILT professor elected as AERA chair

Rosalind Horowitz, professor in the College of Education and Human Development’s (COEHD) Department of Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching, was elected to chair the Research in Reading and Literacy Special Interest Group for the American Educational Research Association (AERA).

COEHD collaborative presented with inaugural UCEA award

The University of Texas at San Antonio Urban School Leaders Collaborative (USLC) was presented with the inaugural University Council for Educational Administration (UCEA) Exemplary Educational Leadership Award at a special presentation ceremony on Monday, May 5, 2014 at the San Antonio Independent School District (SAISD) Burnet Leadership Center.

Commencement Spotlight: Yolanda Diaz

Yolanda Diaz remembers how her mother would encourage her to do well in school while she was growing up – by checking how neat her handwriting was on her schoolwork. Diaz’s mom didn’t know how to read or write, but she encouraged her daughter in the way she knew.

ELPS doctoral student accepted into summer scholar program

Elisabeth Krimbill, doctoral student in The University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) College of Education and Human Development (COEHD) and assistant principal at Barbara Bush Middle School in North East Independent School District, was recently accepted into the 2014 cohort of the Public School Research Scholar’s Program.
