Hallo zusammen,
Here are the courses available next fall.
The first flier is missing another fall course I'll be teaching because it's brand
new: CSH 1213 German Daily Culture 1.
This counts for core if you need a Language core credit! It's cross-listed with GER
2013 and takes a deeper dive into these topics: holidays, clothing, living, housework.
Schedule:
* Monday will be culture content in English for CSH and GER sections.
* Wednesday will be German-language focused. CSH students are not expected to attend.
* Friday will be online asynchronous with differentiated assignments.
CSH 1213 Learning outcomes:
* Students will gain insight into how people in other cultures live their daily
lives.
* Students will reflect on stereotypes and how unspoken misunderstandings can occur.
* Students will reflect on their own positionality and widen their perspectives to
accommodate other ways of thinking and living. This can include critical reflection on the
way they live their own lives.
* Students will deepen their understanding in each culture topic through an oral
presentation and written report.
CSH 1213 Assessments:
* 4 oral presentations and written reports: 1 for each broader topic
* Discussion board responses to each report
* Weekly engagement with people living in the target culture
* Preferred: direct 1 on 1 interaction
* Possible: engagement through social media in English or using translation tools
* Midterm and final reflections
Viele Grüße,
Dr. D
