Hallo zusammen,
Here at UTSA, we have some optional German-related opportunities. See below for details
and links. In particular, I hope to foster more community with Stammtisch and the Slack
workspace, and I’d love to see a revival of the student-run German Club.
Viele Grüße,
Dr. D

List-serv: Want German-related info, even if/when you're no longer taking a German
course? Subscribe to the German
list-serv<https://lists.it.utsa.edu/postorius/lists/german.lists.it.ut... for
general German info emails from Dr. D.
Slack: Use the UTSA German
Slack<https://join.slack.com/t/utsagerman/shared_invite/zt-1mkgeg40m-Z...
to get to know and engage in discussions with classmates and students in other courses.
When you join the workspace, you will automatically join the #alles channel. Join
channels<https://slack.com/help/articles/205239967-Join-a-channel> on other topics
of interest, like study abroad, specific courses, German Club, Stammtisch, tutoring, etc.
Club: German Club is student-run. Past activities include movie nights, tutoring, and
group meals. What events do you want to organize?
Stammtisch conversation hour: Stammtisch is a relaxed German conversation hour run by Dr.
D. All levels are welcome! Check the Stammtisch/German
Club<http://colfa.utsa.edu/modern-languages/german-club> page for up-to-date
information on time and location.
This semester, we'll have the Stammtisch conversation hour two times per month. See
the
schedule<http://colfa.utsa.edu/modern-languages/german-club> for in-person and
online meetings.
Online: 2nd Wednesday of the month, 1-2pm on
Zoom<https://utsa.zoom.us/j/91462455860?pwd=QkxsR3NpdDlER1orRnVSWTdXRUZrQT09>
In-person: 4th Thursday of the month, 3-4 in MH 4.01.01 Modern Languages Conference Room
Stammtisch is totally optional and a nice way to get to know other German-affiliates at
UTSA. It's open to all language levels, including beginners. In that case, we usually
talk about German topics in English, but pepper in the occasional word or phrase auf
Deutsch.
When we're in person, it's usually easy to find others with similar language
levels. Online, we often stay in English to include all, but if we have enough interested
people, we can create breakout rooms for different levels.
Hope to see some of you there!
