This is such a good example of the era of post-truth era of institutional stupidity we are now in- people have been beating up gifted and talented programs for the last 4 years- so instead of reforming or making the programs more inclusive in terms of talent identification- let’s just get rid or dismantle of them altogether…because there is really no such thing as gifted or talented students- similar to being “post-disability”- it reminds me of the professor from a reading department in the UK who said “we are increasing disparities by reading to our children.” So not surprisingly- congress wants to now cut Gifted and Talented. Like getting rid of special education, it will not close disparities and likely do a lot of harm…MDB
