See below on evidence-based mentoring- and download of APA releases important guidelines on race and ethnicity in psychology: Implications for mentoring- lots of good stuff- the bad part of it that I don’t like though is (a) very little mention of research and evidence, and (b) the framing of critical pedagogy- Paulo Friere is the Brazilian Christian socialist. In education, people are citing critical pedagogy and him as the basis for deskilling the curriculum and special education as deficit based. Likewise they are citing Michel Foucault, the French deconstructionist who has a checkered history. I hate to say it, but anything related to diversity you have to put on your critical thinking hat- some things are valid and makes sense…other things….not so sure about. But it is mostly good I think- but I would want to see the supporting evidence and logic for the assertions.
