Research to Practice

Office of Special Education Programs

The National Center for Special Education Research (NCSER), within the Institute of Education Sciences (IES), will be hiring a program officer. The position was just posted on USAJobs (https://www.usajobs.gov/job/792654500). Please share with your networks (including OSEP scholars and interns – past and present) and help us spread the word!

Who should apply?

NCSER is looking for someone with experience conducting research in fields relevant to the education sciences, knowledge of learners with or at risk for disabilities, and an understanding of research designs commonly used in education research. Program officers support the drafting of requests for applications (RFAs), provide technical assistance to applicants, monitor the scientific activities of grantees, and collaborate with colleagues across IES and the Department of Education to synthesize and share the knowledge generated by grant-funded research.

What are the position details?

The position will be permanent general schedule at either the GS-12 or GS-13 level with full benefits. Applicants must be U.S. citizens. The position is in IES’ Washington, DC office; however, it is remote work and telework eligible.

How should those interested apply?

Please see the attached document for tips on how to apply through USAJobs. Importantly, USAJobs will only accept the first 150 applications before closing. So, it’s important to apply in a timely manner.
