DOJ Grants Financial Guide Update
The Department of Justice (DOJ) has updated the
DOJ Grants Financial Guide and the
DOJ Guide to Procurements, which serve as the primary references for DOJ award recipients, including Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Office on Violence Against Women (OVW), and Office of Community Oriented Policing Services
(COPS Office) recipients. Grantees should reference the DOJ Grants Financial Guide as they fulfill their fiduciary responsibilities to safeguard grant funds and ensure funds are used for the purposes for which they were awarded.

New ASAP Verification Step
On March 2, 2026, the U.S. Department of the Treasury added a new verification step to protect federal grant funds. If an entity updates or adds banking account information in the Automated Standard Application for Payments (ASAP), DOJ financial staff will
contact the entity’s financial institution to validate the changes. DOJ financial staff may also contact the entity’s ASAP Financial Official for coordination with the financial institution.
This additional step may cause a temporary delay in accessing funds after banking changes.
Reminder: Maintain Supporting Documentation for All Grant Expenses
Be sure to keep up-to-date records for everything charged to your federal grant in a centralized grant file. These should align with your project’s approved scope, budget, timeline, and programmatic progress.
