Course Overview:
The effects of severe weather are felt every year by many Americans. To obtain critical weather information, NOAA's National Weather Service (NWS) established SKYWARN(r) to educate citizens on severe weather systems. SKYWARN(r) is a volunteer program with nearly 290,000 trained severe weather spotters nationwide. Volunteers at UTSA can help keep our campus safe by providing timely and accurate reports of severe weather to the National Weather Service. The information provided by UTSA SKYWARN(r) Stormspotters, coupled with Doppler radar technology, improved satellite and other data, will enable the NWS to issue more timely and accurate warnings for tornadoes, severe thunderstorms and flash floods. UTSA SKYWARN(r) Stormspotters are part of the ranks of citizens who form the Nation's first line of defense against severe weather that can help save lives when seconds and minutes count.

Subject: [Advising] new generic advisors and advising centers
When we've sent out the list of students with blank advisors (i.e., no advisor assigned), the list has included three different types of active students: (1) students who are current but who have not yet been assigned an advisor, (2) students who have graduated and have had their previous advisor removed from SGAADVR, and (3) students who are no longer current UTSA students, either because they've transferred elsewhere or for some other reason. ("Active" students in Banner are those who have taken courses at UTSA within the last calendar year, even though we might not think of them as really active.) Until now, we have had no way of distinguishing these three types of students. However, we now have two new generic advisors that we can apply to these students, as appropriate:
Advising
Not Assigned
@01558600
Advising
Earned Degree
@01558601
The "Not Assigned" generic advisor should be used for students who have permanently transferred elsewhere and do not intend to take more classes at UTSA, or for students who ask to be removed from contact lists because they are no longer attending for whatever reason. The "Earned Degree" generic advisor should be used for students after they graduate from UTSA. In the future, the script we run to update the list of graduates after the end of every semester will use the "Earned Degree" advisor instead of assigning a blank. For both of these types of students, the Advisor Type (= Advising Center) in SGAADVR should be NCS, "Not a Current Student". This designation is also new. We in USSTS will go back and look at updating students who have already graduated with the "Earned Degree" advisor, and assuming we're able to do that, we'll let you know when it's done. In the meantime, feel free to mark both graduates and no longer current students with the appropriate generic advisor, and don't forget to use NCS as the Advisor Type. Make sure to check the Primary Indicator in SGAADVR as well.
Finally, we have also created a new Advisor Type, IEP, for students in the Intensive English Program. These students will not have an assigned advisor in SGAADVR (for now at least), so you will be able to use the "Not Assigned" advisor for these students, but with IEP rather than NCS as the Advisor Type.
I hope these new "advisors" and "centers" will help reduce the confusion concerning students who currently have blank advisors and will facilitate the assignment of advisors to students who need them. See Testy Davox's (@00010656) record in SGAADVR for 201530 for an example.

Good afternoon,
OIT is in the process of bringing in another vendor to replace Catapult, the previous CRM vendor. From what I understand this new vendor has higher ratings/certification with regards to CRM and has already identified so more effective/efficient ways but have not yet started.
