HONORS COLLEGE COMMUNIQUE: June 2025   Hello from Honors College! In partnership with Academic Advising, we are sending a monthly Honors College Communique on the Advising listserv, in which we will send updates about:     1. Honors news, updates, and advising information 2. Honors opportunities open to all students 2. A highlighted benefit of being an Honors College member 3. A student highlight from your advising areas 4. Contacts within Honors for more information Honors News: New College Honors Program - Honors has been working with various department honors programs and the newest one to join is COLFA Honors. The program is set up for 25 students, and students are part of both the Honors College and COLFA Honors program. The invite is open to first-year, transfer, and current UTSA students. Honors Academics: Honors Counseling – is available over the summer! We are busy working on summer graduation audits and onboarding a record number of new Honors students (nearly 800 new students!). Students can join Honors as a first-time freshman, as a transfer, as a current UTSA student, and via the many pathways (college honors programs, ROTC, Athletics, etc). Students can meet with any available Honors Counselor, either by dropping into the Honors office (GSR 2.210), attending a group counseling session, or requesting an appointment. Honors College and CPOS: What You Need to Know Students can pursue Honors without affecting CPOS or delaying graduation. In fact, the entire Honors curriculum can be completed with just 1 additional credit hour—and the HON seminars are not required. · Only 4 required Honors courses: o HON 1000 (0 credit, 8-week, online) o HON 2301 (1 credit, 8-week, online) o Honors CSH 1213 (core curriculum course) o Honors WRC 1023 (core curriculum course; waived with ENGL 1302 credit) · The rest of the curriculum is experience-based, allowing flexibility through courses or co-curricular activities. · Flexibility in the curriculum includes approved substitution options for HON 2301 and Honors CSH 1213. Special Notes: · Honors courses can count as free electives (if applicable to the degree) · Could be used as substitutions for upper-division electives (if applicable) · If taking 12 CPOS-eligible hours, Honors courses beyond that are still counted Bottom line: Honors works with your degree plan—not against it! The Gilman is open to all eligible UTSA students, who are Pell Grant recipients. It awards them up to $5000 to study abroad. Catalog Eligibility & Expiration Updates

Hello All, We just wanted to make sure everyone was aware of some approved changes to catalog eligibility & expiration policies. These updates have already been made to the 2024-2026 undergraduate catalog<https://catalog.utsa.edu/undergraduate/bachelorsdegreeregulations/degreer...>. The attached memo provides details on the following changes: 1. A student only qualifies for catalogs newer than their original/earliest eligible catalog. 2. The new policy of not needing to complete a course during one of a catalog's active terms is retroactive to all active catalogs. 3. Transfer students can determine their original/earliest catalog eligibility based on their first term of enrollment at any public, Texas institution (not including dual credit enrollment). 4. A student's 6-year expiration timeframe begins at the end of their specific catalog term. 5. All students will have a 6-year catalog expiration timeframe based on their specific catalog term. Any references stating that some students only have a 4-year expiration timeframe have been updated/removed. 6. If a student was not admitted under, or enrolled for, one of their chosen catalog's active terms, they should default to using the earliest catalog term for that catalog. There are also ongoing conversations about how to address issues with students with expired catalogs if they have not received an approved extension. Happy Monday, We’re pleased to announce that Spring 2025 degrees are officially awarded and now reflected on student transcripts. Students may begin requesting official transcripts that include their degree information here: UTSA Parchment<https://www.credentials-inc.com/CGI-BIN/dvcgitp.pgm?ALUMTRO010115> As a reminder, diplomas will be mailed by our third-party vendor, Parchment, over the next several weeks. Students will receive official notification of their final graduation status on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. Please remind students with fiscal holds to email Graduation Coordination once their holds have been cleared. Additionally, tuition rebates for eligible undergraduate students will be processed in mid-July. UK Postgraduate Degree Information Session

Dear Advising Community, Please help us share the following with students. Representatives from UK Universities will be visiting next Wednesday, June 11th , to present on graduate degrees in the UK. This is open to anyone who would like to attend (graduate & undergraduate students, faculty, and staff). Get your postgraduate degree in the UK! Representatives from Durham University, Newcastle University, and the University of Cambridge will be giving a presentation from 12:00 pm- 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 11th for any interested UTSA students to learn more about master's and PhD opportunities at their universities. During the presentation, the representatives will go over the UK admissions process, differences in the UK vs. US education system, student life in the UK, scholarship opportunities, and more.
