NCB 0500 and MAT 1033
by advising@lists.sis.utsa.edu
Good afternoon all!
Per Carol Dyas, in the Math Department, if you have a student who qualifies for the MAT 1033 and NCB 0500 course pairing for the fall semester, you can overenroll the student in the MAT 1033 section. Qualification for the Math related NCB course is a 341 on the TSI assessment.
As a reminder, the two courses are listed below:
NCB 0500 002 20855 Specialized Study for Math
MAT 1033 002 12270 Algebra w/Calculus for Business
You will have to override the student into the courses, including the over enrollment.
Please also make sure the application is filled out and a copy is sent to Carol Dyas. The form is attached to this e-mail in Word format.
Please, please, please remember ONLY these two courses together are eligible for the over enrollment! :)
Let us know if you have questions or concerns.
Thanks!

FW: Fall Orientation Scheduling Expectations

No. Don't unlink the courses. Just allow students who should be in linked sections the option to enroll in standalone if topic is of their interest and not available in linked.

Tammy and Barbara,
Just for clarification, are you saying that we can unlink sections of AIS and WRC if the AIS is the one they want, but the WRC isn't?
Thanks,
D

Subject: [Advising] Fall Orientation Scheduling Expectations
Good morning Academic Advising Team,
I wanted to send out a quick reminder to reiterate the point that Dr. Wyatt made during her presentation in May at the Campus-wide Advising meeting regarding AIS, the focus has shifted this fall orientation compared to previous fall orientations. We need to be more concerned about getting the students in the 'right' AIS course rather than just filling sections to capacity. If they are not registered for an AIS course in the fall, we still need to put the FYE comment type and comment number that reflects why the student is not enrolled in AIS. If they are wanting a topic and the section is closed, send Kristi Johnson an email indicating the topic and section. This will be helpful in determining what AIS topics will be offered in the Spring.
Attached is the updated Fall Orientation Scheduling Expectations. I have also placed a copy on the Academic Advising I: drive in the Orientation 2016 folder.
For those students who have already completed the first orientation on June 6-8, you do not need to go back and add the comments for the students who are not enrolled in AIS. If we are unable to determine why they are not enrolled, then you may receive an individual follow up email.
Thanks Everyone!

Please Review Math Level of BIO Student before Referring
by advising@lists.sis.utsa.edu
It seems that there will be lots of students, especially our new freshmen, wanting to change majors throughout this summer and into the regular semester, of course. If everyone could be reminded that students interested in BIO must be Calculus I ready (AKA pass Pre-Cal with a C- or better) before they are advised by LHSC. Until then, these students will be advised by STPL. I ask that once a student's math level is reviewed, the appropriate referral to either LHSC or STPL be made.
I know that there are so many details to remember, so I completely understand if some are missed. However, any and all assistance in this is appreciated because it really helps reduce the runaround for the student.
Please forward this message to anyone in your area that may need it and may not be on this listserv.
Thanks everyone!
