Hello All, Attached you will find a memo clarifying that a student can still accept AP World History credit for HIS 2123 or 2133 even if they have already earned credit for one of these courses. Our catalog<https://catalog.utsa.edu/undergraduate/nationalstandardizedtests/#ap> shows that students can accept credit for either HIS 2123 or HIS 2133 but not both (see below). [cid:image001.jpg@01D7E5E4.E4E16580] The below statement in the student policies section mentions that students cannot be awarded credit-by-exam if they have already earned credit for the course from a college or university. Some students have been told they cannot accept credit for either HIS 2123 or 2133 if they have already earned credit for one of the courses. HIS 2123 & 2133 are not equivalents, so if a student earns credit for one of the courses, they can still accept AP credit for the other course. Awarding AP credit for the alternative course would not result in duplicate credit, so it is still compliant with the below policy. If the student has not yet taken one of these courses, they will only see one of the course options listed in the credit-by-exam area of ASAP (ASAP isn't programmed to allow a student to choose between the courses). Demand for data analysis skills is growing and this certificate offers you a way to show employers that you have obtained these skills. This certificate program prepares students to address policy challenges and to lead in data-driven decision-making. Sound public policy requires an understanding of the root causes of problems and the drivers of meaningful change. Students will learn to effectively communicate and influence decision-making using evidence-based policy proposals. What is a certificate program? For students currently pursuing a bachelor's degree, certificates serve as a way for students to develop specific skills and distinguish themselves from other job applicants. FW: Prerequisites

Good afternoon Any student who is retaking a chemistry course in which they earned a grade of D or F and are getting the “prerequisite and test score error” when attempting to register for the next chemistry course in their sequence must submit the prerequisite override request form. Per the request of the Chemistry Department, please do not set P1 overrides for these students. In addition, please tell your student to clearly explain the reason they’re requesting the override, so the Department knows to approve the request with a P1 and not Q1. Spring Classes in Degree Works

Hello, I've had a couple of people ask if there's a lag in Degree Works updating with newly registered courses. It seems like it might be the case when the system is loaded with students registering. So far, all classes have popped in right away or with a little time and after hitting Process New. Students do not have the Process New button, but Degree Works will refresh with any updated data when they log in (or hit their browser's refresh button ). If a student is registered in a course they are repeating to get a C- or better, and they're trying to register for something that the repeated course is a pre-req for, we are aware that an override must be set for them. Since the pre-req can see a grade for the student (D or F) it's not meeting the pre-req of a C- or better, and that's what's causing the pre-req error. We are looking at possible solutions. Reminder, if you see an error with a pre-req, please send an email to DegreeWorks(a)utsa.edu with the information so it can be updated. Please know that when we update a pre-req, there is a process that must run in the evening that updates the system for the update to take.
