FW: Max Hour Restriction for Former LEAD Students no Longer Valid

Good morning, advising community! I have had a couple of advisors contact me regarding the max hour restriction that former LEAD students have for this upcoming summer. It is very important to note that former LEAD students, prior to summer 2022, no longer have to abide by the 6 max hour summer enrollment restriction, nor any restriction for the fall and spring. They do, however, have to meet hour restrictions set by the university as any other student must do so. The reason this occurs is because BANNER cannot differentiate when the LEAD attribute should start and end. I have attempted to have this corrected, but have been told that there is no easy fix. As the student's advisor, please feel free to update the student's max hours whenever necessary. If anyone still has questions, please feel free to reach out. Have a great week! Cynthia J. In the "ELF," UTSA Honors College students present significant accomplishments outside of the classroom in Service, Professional Development, Intellectual Achievement & Research, Cultural Exploration, Engaged Living, Skill Development, and Leadership. The ELF is their "final exam" to ensure that activities meet our Honors learning outcomes and ethos. We intentionally invite community members and UTSA partners to judge to make explicit our belief that education is a civic good. Student efforts in our curriculum should benefit our communities. Faculty/Staff event to support students in applications to the Fulbright Student Program

Dear UTSA advisors, I'm writing to let you know about a faculty/staff online event that I will be conducting next Friday, March 25. The Fulbright Student Program is a fantastic opportunity for our junior/senior/recently graduated students, and I'm looking to increase the number of students applying from all disciplines. Details on next week's workshop are below: Online Faculty/Staff Workshop: Support for students to apply to the Fulbright Student Program The Fulbright Student Program provides opportunities for students to study, research, or teach English in 150 countries for 8-12 months. Students of all disciplines are welcome to apply. Students generally start applications 1 year in advance of their travel date - in early summer for a 1 September submission. This online workshop will orient faculty and staff on recruiting strategies for Fulbright at UTSA, in hopes to increase the number applicants in future application cycles. As you might already know, the current circumstances we live in can prove to be a roller coaster of emotions and experiences. Nevertheless, our UTSA Dreamers and undocumented students are a resilient group. Year after year, they have demonstrated strong academic achievements, entrepreneurial skills, and lead advocacy efforts. This is why I would like to provide some updated information on the DRC, as well as future training opportunities for your colleagues and student employees. Training Opportunities As we strive to continue promoting a welcoming campus environment, we encourage students, faculty, and staff to enroll in our Dreamer Ally trainings. On March 24th, we will be offering two opportunities for those who would like to become Dreamer allies. This trip is tied to a fall Honors course, where students put into practice the activities they engaged in, in Costa Rica with San Antonio community entities (such as local community gardens, learning about watershed processes at Confluence Park, and much more!). This program is open to any major, and includes spaces for our first-year students who are just starting their time at UTSA. The program counts as an Engaged Living experience in the Honors curriculum. Highlighted Benefit for Honors College Members: Priority registration - Honors students (freshmen-senior) have priority registration, which means they are one of the first groups to register for classes.
