Hello all, I wanted to clarify that the requirements dial will still be at 98% in a student's final semester (occasionally it will be 99%). The credits dial should be at 100% in the student's final semester. Community College Block Removed From DegreeWorks 2020-2022

Good morning, The community college block has been removed in DegreeWorks for all students in the 2020-2022 catalog. This block was causing issues, which was one of the reasons for removing it. If you ever had a student who had an elective missing and you did an exception to pull it in, only to have another course kicked out, more than likely the CC block was causing that problem. Removing the block also allows DegreeWorks to look at all available community college courses, and then use the ones that the student needs for their degree first, rather than going in order from newest to oldest. This means the need to add XJCO to a course will be greatly reduced. Even without the block, there is still a restriction in the degree block that only allows a maximum of 66 community college courses. The count for community college hours is above the degree block. MAT 1023, 1073, and 1053

The Math department and the College of Business have agreed to treat MAT 1023 and MAT 1073 as equivalent classes in every respect, with MAT 1053 as a separate class that may be used as a prereq for MAT 1093 and MAT 1133. That means that students who take both MAT 1053 and one of MAT 1023 and MAT 1073 may receive credit for two classes, and students who pass any one of the three with a C- or better may now take either MAT 1093 or MAT 1133. MAT 1053 will still be the preferred class for COB students, but the other two will be accepted to fulfill CBK requirements, so that students won't have to take MAT 1053 if they already have credit for one of the others. BIO I and II Course Evaluations

A word about Biology I and II courses. Prior to the first day of Fall 2022, BIO 1203, 1201, 1223, and 1221 did not exist. If a student transferred in a course that was equivalent to BIO 1404/1414 and it was evaluated prior to August 22, 2022, then it came in as BIO 1404/1414 and not the new course numbers, because they did not exist. Now, if a student transfers in a course (that is equivalent and would've previously come in as BIO 1404/1414), it should transfer in as the new course number. The thing is that there are hundreds of schools and courses that have to be changed in the tables and this takes time to change them. Admissions could not start this process until the courses were active, which was the first day of Fall 2022. They have already changed them for Texas schools and are in the process of doing the rest. Note: This is for any courses evaluated after 8/22/22. They will not re-evaluate courses that have already been evaluated. So, if a student's transfer course was evaluated on June 22, 2022, and it came in as BIO 1404, it will stay BIO 1404. If someone's transfer credit is evaluated tomorrow, it will come in as BIO 1203. We have updated the catalogs in DW to look for BIO 1404/1414 or the new course numbers.
