Happy Monday! The second annual Rowdy Games is coming Saturday, March 25th! Sign up now!! While work is the priority at any office, sometimes employees just need to let off a little steam. Research shows that there is an increased risk associated with long periods of sitting. Whether you're looking for a fun team-building activity, or you want to engage with new UTSA employees, Rowdy Games is a great way to build team camaraderie and show off your athletic abilities. Plus, it allows for a much-needed break from all that hard work. All UTSA faculty and staff are invited to participate at no cost! Event Details: Date: Saturday, March 25, 2023 Location: UTSA Recreation Wellness Center Event registration begins at 8:15am Games/Activities: 9:00 a.m. to noon How do I Sign Up? 1. Team Captains: 1. A student highlight from your advising areas Contacts within Honors for more information Honors News: Spring 23 Honors College Experiential Learning Fair (ELF) - we invite the advising community to be judges for our spring ELF. What is the ELF? Each semester, community members and UTSA staff, faculty and graduate students serve as judges for our Experiential Learning Fair<https://nam11.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fhonors....> (ELF). In the "ELF," UTSA Honors College students present significant accomplishments outside of the classroom in Service, Professional Development, Intellectual Achievement & Research, Cultural Exploration, Engaged Living, and Skill Development. The ELF is an opportunity for them to share their experiences and learn to speak about them in meaningful ways. We intentionally invite community members and UTSA partners to judge to make explicit our belief that education is a civic good. Student efforts in our curriculum should benefit our communities. Judging Process. The judging process will be relatively simple: * The judging is Wednesday, April 5th. * The student presentation times are 11:30-12:30 and 2:30-3:30. * There are two judging sessions: 11:00-12:30 and 2:00-3:30, both in the HEB SU Ballroom. * The judge training and poster previewing in the first 30 minutes of the sessions. * We will provide the rubrics and training. Honors Opportunities for All UTSA Students: Phi Kappa Phi Fellowship for Graduate Study - Apply by March 15 Do you know of a student planning to attend graduate school next year? The Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society provides scholarships from $8,500-$35,000. Note that students do not need to be a Phi Kappa Phi member to apply for UTSA nomination. UTSA awardees in the past five years have attended master's programs in Public Health, M.D. programs, and Ph.D. programs in Chemistry and Physics. MA programs abroad are also eligible. BIO, MMI, and NDRB Course Changes

Good afternoon, Cross-listed BIO, MMI, and NDRB courses will not be offered in multiple departments starting Summer 2023. Each department will have their own sub-set of courses (see attached for "Course Offerings in IB, MMI, and NDRB"). The courses will remain cross-listed in that they're degree applicable for students who have taken/will take a version not aligned with their current major/department. For example, BIO 3433 and NDRB 3433 (Neurobiology) are still crosslisted, but the course will be offered as NDRB 3433 only; BIO 3713 and MMI 3713 (Microbiology) are still crosslisted, but the course will be offered as MMI 3713 only, etc. Biology majors and minors in the Integrative Biology (IB) Department can take any upper-division biology course through IB, MMI, and NDRB for their upper-division BIO electives at this time (though this is subject to change on future catalogs).
