Approved Memo | Quarter Hours in Core
by advising@lists.it.utsa.edu
Good morning,
Attached you will find the approved memo stating that quarter hours are allowed to satisfy a core requirement. DegreeWorks has been adjusted so requirements will show as complete with quarter hour courses.

Students still need to have 42 credits of core overall. The requirement that would need to be adjusted to reach 42 credits is Component Area Option. So, for example if a student has WRC 1013 and Language, Philosophy and Culture satisfied with courses that are 2.66 credits, they will be short overall for core. Their CAO hours would need to be increased by .68 credits (.34*2). In these cases, please email DegreeWorks(a)utsa.edu<mailto:DegreeWorks@utsa.edu> and we will take care of adjusting the hours for core.
Reminder: Email the DegreeWorks inbox if an exception is needed in the core.

Amanda Garcia

New UT-CAP Block in Degree Works
by advising@lists.it.utsa.edu
Hello All,
We wanted to let you know that a new block has been added to Degree Works to help students track their UT-Austin Coordinated Admission Program (CAP) requirements. This block will only show for the incoming 2023-2024 CAP cohort for now but will show for future cohorts as well. Please forward this information to your staff as needed.
Big thank you to Amanda Garcia for working with UTS to import custom data into Degree Works so we could do this. Thank you also to those in Exploratory Advising, the Advising Directors, and Strategic Enrollment that provided feedback throughout the process!
A screenshot of the block is shown below. A few things to note about the block:
* The CAP GPA requirement (3.2 or higher) is not listed as a requirement because UT-Austin manually confirms GPAs after the student transcripts are received in May/June. The GPA requirement is mentioned in the blue text at the top of the block.
* The blue text at the top of the block links students to the UT-Austin CAP website.
* The only credits that will be applied to the block are those completed at UTSA starting with the first CAP semester. AP credit, dual/transfer credit, and prior UTSA dual credit will not apply to the block. If any issues are seen, please report them to Amanda.Garcia(a)utsa.edu<mailto:Amanda.Garcia@utsa.edu> and Matt.Keneson(a)utsa.edu<mailto:Matt.Keneson@utsa.edu>.
* The CAP block shows all possible course options even if the student has prior AP/dual credit for a course. This was done intentionally since many CAP students retake courses as part of their 30 CAP hours.
* The block will be removed for all CAP students at the end of their CAP year (likely in June). For any students that opt out of the CAP program during their CAP year, the block will be removed either immediately (opt out before Census of the current term) or starting with the next term (opt out after Census of the current term).
* Please see the attached guides on how students may opt out of CAP.

DegreeWorks | Updates Turned Off
by advising@lists.it.utsa.edu
Good afternoon,
It's that time in the semester where automatic refresh has been turned off in DegreeWorks due to grade entry. This is done each semester. Like previous semesters, we have updated the disclaimer in DegreeWorks to indicate that updates to classes will not be seen in DegreeWorks during this time. Auto update will be turned on at the end of the day on May 16, 2023.
