Introducing Our New Program to Support Student Success

Dear Academic Advising Community, Student Success and UTSA Online are excited to introduce you to RITA<https://www.utsa.edu/rita> (Roadrunner Intelligent Technology Assistant) – our new AI-powered texting chatbot designed to support our undergraduate students with personalized, on-demand guidance. [cid:image001.png@01DC169F.81A0C340] This academic year we’re piloting RITA with all ONL Program undergraduate students and a sample of incoming first-time-in-college residential students. Developed in partnership with EdSights (EdSights 101<https://videos.edsights.io/watch/Vi5NzqUNsWSLoXE8h6fs31>), RITA is available to students 24/7 to answer questions about the university any time, day or night. RITA’s responses all come from a knowledge base we’ve developed that covers a variety of topics: · Academics (academic advising, study skills, etc.) · Financial Matters (personal finances, financial aid, scholarships, etc.) · Campus Life and Involvement (clubs, organizations, events, etc.) · Student Well-Being (health clinic, recreation, counseling, etc.) Just like "Siri" or "Alexa," RITA can answer students’ questions across a broad range of campus topics specific to UTSA. RITA also proactively checks in with students throughout the semester, helping them stay on track and engaged. To ensure meaningful follow-up and support, the Roadrunner Success Hub will be monitoring student interactions with RITA. When opportunities for follow-up arise, the Student Success Response Team will connect with students to provide additional guidance and resources. You might see notes in Inspire from our outreach connections. This initiative reflects UTSA’s commitment to leveraging innovative technology to enhance student success and retention. Spring 2026 Graduation Application

Dear Colleagues, I want to provide an update regarding the Spring 2026 graduation application. At this time, the application is not yet available for students to submit. As part of our Banner upgrade from SSB8 to SSB9, we are moving "back to basics" by implementing the Banner-delivered graduation application. One important change beginning with Spring 2026 is the addition of a $50 graduation application fee. Our team is currently in the final stages of testing to ensure accuracy and a smooth student experience. Once testing is complete, we will send a campus wide communication announcing that the application is open and ready for students. In the meantime, if students ask about applying, please let them know they will receive a direct communication once the application is live. We truly appreciate your patience and support as we launch this new process, which will streamline and strengthen our graduation application experience. Please note that this lab is not intended to cover specific course requirements or in-depth pathway planning. Instead, it equips students with the tools and resources to ask the right questions, align their pathway courses with their program requirements, and take confident next steps. Teams will develop innovative recommendations on one of three focus areas: 1) supporting small businesses, 2) preserving culture and heritage, and 3) promoting community development without displacement. Students will receive mentorship from SAGE staff, UTSA faculty, Honors College leaders, and the Najim Center, while participating in skill-building workshops. The program concludes with team presentations to a panel of judges, with an award for the best proposal. Benefits: Selected participants will serve as paid consultants for SAGE, earning $800 over 10 weeks (10 hrs /week), with a chance to win an additional award for the best solution. You’ll gain hands-on experience, build project management skills, and grow your professional network with community leaders and business owners to help boost your career readiness. Updates From The Registrar's Office | Meningitis Holds & Transcript Processing

Hello all! Updates from the Registrar's Office: Meningitis Holds The deadline to turn in documentation to Health Services for meningitis holds is today. Students who still have the meningitis hold on 8/6 will be dropped at the end of that day. This will allow time for Health Services to update holds for those that turned them in before the deadline before anyone gets dropped. Transcript Processing We are currently processing the backlog of transcripts. You do not need to submit tickets to request a transcript be evaluated at this time unless stated below. * Pending Transcripts Not Marked 'To Be Evaluated' * Transcripts processed via the new Raptor system get loaded to Xtender and are not marked To Be Evaluated. We have a way of identifying these students. You do not need to submit a ticket saying a transcript needs to be processed and is not marked 'To Be Evaluated'. * The only time you need to submit a ticket for a transcript not marked as To Be Evaluated is if a transcript has a received date prior to April 2025. Please submit a ticket<https://utsa.tfaforms.net/453>, and in the subject line put "Transcript Received [date] Needs Evaluation" and select Medium Priority. * Graduating Students We will process any transcripts for students who are graduating this summer or have an application to graduate in the fall by the end of next week. This should give enough time for Advising to do final audits for summer and initial audits for fall. If you see a transcript still needs to be processed for a student graduating in the summer after 8/8/2025, please submit a ticket<https://utsa.tfaforms.net/453>, and in the subject line put "Graduating Student Summer" and select High Priority. After 8/8/2025, we will check on new transcripts for graduating students weekly. * Students Attending Orientation * We will process transcripts for students attending NSO the week prior to their registered orientation session. By the end of today, we should have transcripts evaluated for students attending NSO on 8/4 and 8/5. Next week we will evaluate transcripts for 8/11 and 8/12. If a transcript has not been evaluated for an 8/11 and/or 8/12 NSO student by 8/6/2025, please submit a ticket<https://utsa.tfaforms.net/453>, and in the subject line put "NSO [and their NSO date] Needs Evaluation" and select High Priority. * We are currently in the process of evaluating transcripts for students who attended NSO already. * If we notice that the student is registered for fall in a duplicate course, we will notify the student via email and CC their advisor to alert the student that they can drop the course and register for something else. * These transcripts are being processed in date order from when we received them. * Please do not submit tickets for this group at this time. * Continuing Students * At this time, please do not submit tickets for these students unless there is an escalation issue.
