Subject: New Course in the Life and Physical Science Core Component Area
Patti,
If you could distribute the note below to all the advisors, that would be great. Thanks.
Dear Advisor,
I wanted to let you know that the Environmental Science Academic Programs has a new course
which has been added to the core curriculum (life and physical science) for Fall 2014. The
course ES 2023, Environmental Systems II, is a sister course to ES 2013, Environmental
Systems I. While the first course deals with all the biotic factors in the environment,
the second course focuses on abiotic factors, such as natural hazards, (earthquakes,
fires, volcanoes etc.\), pollution processes, and energy resources. We have two sections,
ES 2023.001 (12215) MWF 2-2:50 and ES 2023.002 (17494) 11:30 - 12:45.
Also, we have two additional core (life and physical sciences) courses that have been
approved by the University for the 2015 Catalog - ES 1113 Environmental Botany and ES 1123
Environmental Zoology. We are still waiting for coordinating board approval and I will
send you an update regarding those courses when they are approved.
If you have any questions, send me a note.
Thanks,
Janis
