Subject: UTSA SUMMER LAW SCHOOL PREPARATION ACADEMY
Importance: High
Dear Ms. Smith,
We will truly appreciate your support in forwarding this information to your advisors.
The UTSA Institute for Law and Public Affairs is currently receiving applications for
admission to the UTSA Summer Law School Preparation Academy (SLSPA) program, and we would
like to let your students know about it.
The SLSPA encompasses 12 credit hours of coursework specifically designed to hone the
reading and writing skills students need to successfully gain admission to and excel in
law school. Students who successfully complete the SLSPA receive the UTSA Certificate in
Legal Reasoning.
The Academy incorporates two phases, with students taking 2 3-credit courses in each. This
curriculum is designed to prepare students for law school and the LSAT (Law School
Admissions Test) by emphasizing analytical thinking, critical reading, and quality writing
skills. Students apply for Phase I as sophomores and attend the Academy during the summer
between their sophomore and junior years. Students enroll in Phase II during the summer
after their junior year and before their senior year. Phase I starts June 2, and Phase II
July 10.
Deadline to apply for early admissions is March 15, and for regular admissions is April
15.
In case you know of students interested in going to law school, please, refer them to us.
We provide prelaw advice and can help them to be better prepared for law school and the
application process. Students can find information about us at

Affairs and in getting our message to your students. I am enclosing flyers and information
about our Institute and programs. Feel free to make copies and post them in your office,
and do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions. Thanks, again.
