Advisors,
I wanted to take a few minutes to share with you the summer registration process for this
year's LEAD Academy participants. Like all other students, LEAD participants need to
have completed their TSI, meningitis, and orientation requirements before being eligible
for registration. Any other holds barring them from registration also need to be
resolved. Once students have cleared these holds, they are being instructed by the LEAD
program to complete an on-line pre-registration form. One of the main purposes of this
form is to allow the student to identify any credits they plan on earning while in high
school. This is so summer courses selected for them will not be duplicated. Once this
pre-registration form is submitted, and LEAD staff can confirm that they are ready for
registration, their name and necessary information will appear on a list that will be sent
to Angie. Angie will then register the student for LEAD summer courses that have been
reserved for this group. Please note that these students are not being seen in person for
summer registration. The courses LEAD students will take are AIS 1203 along with an
additional core curriculum course. The additional core course can be either WRC 1013, POL
1013, HIS 1053, HIS 1043, or SOC 1013.
This week, a couple of LEAD students have made it onto campus asking to be registered for
their summer courses. In both instances, they were not ready for registration, and
unfortunately had not thoroughly read the various correspondences we have sent sharing the
LEAD registration process. If you happen to get a LEAD student making a similar request,
please feel free to direct them to the LEAD area directly for further guidance. We are
located in the same area where the TRC and Athletic Advising is located which is MS
1.02.04. You may also call us directly. Susan Colorado's direct extension is x7511
and my extension is noted below.
Regarding fall registration for LEAD Summer Academy students, these students will attend a
one-day orientation on Friday, July 6th. This is when they will meet with their assigned
academic advisor for advising and registration of their fall semester classes.
Thanks everyone, and please call us directly if there are any questions.
