Dear Valued Staff Member,
By now, you should have received a "Save the Date" email from the Student
Success Celebration committee for our upcoming Student Success Celebration scheduled for
May 15, 2019.
As part of this celebration, we would like to invite you to nominate your fellow
colleagues for the outstanding work they do to help UTSA students reach their academic and
career goals. The winners from the categories below, will be announced and recognized
during our celebration luncheon.
In order to nominate a staff, faculty or student employee, you must be a full-time staff
or faculty member in Student Success. You may nominate staff or faculty across the three
AVP areas. Please see the nomination criteria and underlined web links below.

(1) Student Advising and Support Most Valuable Player (MVP): from Advising and
the Graduation Help Desk

Nominee must be a full-time staff or faculty member in Student Advising and Support who
has made significant contributions throughout the year supporting our students'
academic journey from start to finish. This individual has a demonstrated record of
improving student retention and graduation through cooperation and initiative. This
talented staff or faculty is a self-starter with a take-charge attitude who has
volunteered to assist when and where needed.
(2) Student Success Initiative MVP: from First Generation, LEAD, and FYE

Nominee must be a full-time staff or faculty member in Student Success Initiative who has
made significant contributions throughout the year supporting our students' academic

(3) Student Academic Success MVP: from TRC and Math Matters

Nominee must be a full-time staff or faculty member who has made significant contributions
throughout the year supporting our students' academic journey from start to finish.
This individual has a demonstrated record of improving student retention and graduation

a take-charge attitude who has volunteered to assist when and where needed.
Note: You may submit one nomination per each AVP area in categories 1-3, for a total of
three nominations.
(4) Newcomer Award:

This award is an opportunity to honor a newcomer to the UTSA student success community for
their service, excellence, and leadership. Nominees must have worked as a UTSA student
success staff for less than 2 years. Explain and provide examples regarding why you are
nominating this staff member, including how this individual has had an impact on
students' success, on you, your team and/or the university community.
(5) Extra Mile Award:
Extra Mile Award - Any

This award recognizes an individual with (3) three years or more of continuous service
with UTSA and who has taken the initiative to contribute to the success of UTSA through
his/her outstanding contributions at work. Extra efforts demonstrated in their
accomplishments, timeliness, and follow-through, willingness to help fellow employees;
provide good customer service with creativity, dedication, cooperation and reliability.
He or she has performed at a level above and beyond normal job requirements that have
resulted in reaching Student Success goals of removing barriers for students.
