Subject: University College Sophomore Assembly Student Panel Remarks - Advising Accolades
Barbara,
Today we hosted the University College Sophomore Welcome Assembly. At the event we had a
student panel of upperclassmen discussing student success strategies and advice for 2nd
year students. We had 9 upperclassmen majoring in public health, MDST, sciences
(pre-health professions), a student worker from the Writing Center majoring in English,
and a few business students (pre-law). All 9 student panelists spoke very highly of
academic advising and strongly encouraged/advised the students to meet regularly with
their academic advisor (at least once per semester if not more). They all talked about the
relationships they have built with their advisors and how critical their academic advisor
is to their academic success. I thought you would want to know. Feel free to pass this
along..... :)
