Honors News:
Honors Pathways – Did you know Honors students have a multitude of ways to earn credit in
the Honors curriculum? The Honors College offers students the opportunity to participate
in a number of different programs to further expand knowledge, especially in the realms of
professional development, leadership development, and public service. Special programs are
fully integrated into the Honors College curriculum, making credit transfer simple and
ensuring that students are working toward Honors requirements.
Examples of special programs and pathways are:
* College-based Honors programs: Honors has agreements with College of Business and
Sciences, and is working on agreements in the other colleges. Special courses (ex: AIS)
and experiences (ex: internship, research, study abroad) they are doing, automatically
count as experiences in the Honors curriculum.
* Special Programs: The Archer Fellowship, Citymester, and Legislative Fellows are
programs open to all UTSA students, but these programs also provide a pathway into Honors
(for interested students) and several experience credits.
* Athletics: Honors has been working with Athletics to identify student athletes and
athletic-related path of study (ex: Trainers, KIN major with intended path of study in
working with athletes), to create opportunities for them to apply and earn credit in
experiences for Honors.
* Upcoming: Honors has been working to establish other pathways with ROTC, Data
Science, SAISD, and more!
Honors Academics:
Honors now has an option for students to create a plan in DegreeWorks! Just like the
semester plans that can be created for the degree, students can now create an Honors plan
to map out their path in Honors, towards graduation.

Highlighted Benefit for Honors College Members:
Priority registration - Honors students (freshmen-senior) have priority registration,
which means they are one of the first groups to register for classes. While we encourage
our students to meet with their Honors Counselor to review their Honors progress, we also
encourage them to meet with their Academic Advisors early to discuss the major/degree
classes they need for the upcoming semester. If you, or Honors students, have questions
about Honors courses or the curriculum, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us. You can
email honors.advising@utsa.edu<mailto:honors.advising@utsa.edu> and an Honors
Counselor will get back with you.
