My name is Marisol and I am a new academic advisor for UTSA starting January 2022. Prior
to coming to UTSA I worked aboard in Nakatsu, Japan with elementary English language
learning students. I also worked as an adjunct professor at St. Mary's University and
UTSA as an ESL teacher.
I earned a B.A. in Journalism from Hawai'i Pacific University (2013). I have also
earned a M.A. in Teaching English as a Second Language from the University of Texas at San
Antonio (2015).
I live with my parents to save money for traveling. We share three adorable dogs. In my
downtime I enjoy reading, photography and golf.

Meet Celia Marquez

Kudoboard for Celia:

My name is Celia Marquez, I am from Tampico, Tamaulipas (Mexico). When I was 10 years old
my family decided to come to the United States for a better life that came with many
struggles. At the end, despite the hardships of cultural differences, language, and
finances, I am happy to say I'm the first and only member of my family to graduate
from a University with a Bachelor's Degree. I worked at South Texas College for a
little more than four years with students being my daily interaction, which helped me
reevaluate my professional path and goals.
I'm vegan, I'm a pious student to God's word, and I have 3 mischievous cats.
My hobbies include nature and going to different state parks, drawing, skating, video
games, and playing my ukulele.
I've been wanting to have a greater sense of fulfillment in my life and playing an
impactful role. I definitely feel I can accomplish that here at UTSA as an Academic
Advisor. I look forward to meeting my team and the many students we will be guiding in
this scary and exciting part of their lives.
