Many advisors have expressed frustration about the fact that there are no equivalent
transfer courses for AIS 1203, so when students transfer in with several core classes,
neither Banner nor DegreeWorks automatically identifies a course that can take the place
of AIS 1203 in their degree plans. Consequently, advisors are currently spending a lot of
time making exceptions in DegreeWorks for these classes. We have devised an alternative
to setting exceptions in cases like this. If a student has a transfer core class that you
would like to use as a substitute for AIS 1203, instead of using the DegreeWorks exception
process, you can enter the code 095 into SHATRNS under Course Attributes. DegreeWorks
will then automatically use that transfer course to fulfill the AIS requirement in the
core. If you prefer to continue using exceptions rather than the 095 code in SHATRNS, you
may continue to do so.
Thanks to Brian Contreras for this suggestion!
