As Senior registration approaches, I wanted to send the advising community the latest
update on restricted COS courses. I had previously sent a message that BIO 1404, 1414 and
2313 would be restricted until mid-November. As per the Associate Dean of COS, Dr. Craig
Jordan, this restriction has been removed.
Also, we just recently heard that the CHE department would be restricting the labs for
General CHE I and General CHE II (CHE 1121 & 1131) to only CHE and BCH majors. Again,
Dr. Jordan advocated for students outside of these majors, and the compromise is that
certain sections of these labs will be restricted to these majors and only for a limited
amount of time. As I review the class schedule, it seems that they all have the
"B" note which is that the student needs special authorization for the course
provided by the department. I am working to get clarification to see if some of these
labs will be released for non-majors, but thought I'd send this message, now, as
everyone is beginning to see the influx of students attempting to register, and may be
wondering what is currently happening with these Gen CHE labs.
Thanks all and hope to be able to provide an update soon.
