Dear All,
Please see below invitation from Yolanda Williams for the Ujima event tomorrow Thursday
12/3.
Yolanda was so kind and put together a list of event participants and their advisors. You
may want to show your support for your student and attend the event.

BFSA is the primary planner and host of this year's Ujima event. This event will take
place via Zoom on 12/3 and was created to honor our African American Fall 2020 graduates.
The UTSA community is invited to attend. BFSA created the schedule for the event, secured
the keynote speaker, LT Robinson, and created a way to organize students 'grad photos,
best UTSA moment, hometown, degree awarded and organizations they belong to. We
coordinated with the Multicultural Center and the Black Student Leadership Council who set
up our event on Rowdy Link, and we also created a song list and hired a DJ who will be
planning songs for the event. The event was recently mentioned in UTSA today! It will be
a great event and hope that the UTSA advising community will join. I have included a list
of students who have submitted an RSVP along with the advisors they are assigned to. This
way, maybe their advisor will be encouraged to attend.

Ujima stands for collective work and responsibility. The ceremony recognizes students'
dedication and persistence to get to graduation. The Black Student Leadership Council
hosts this celebration to uplift students as they prepare to embark on a new journey.
Also, I wanted to share an email sent to me by a student, Lauren Armwood:
Hey there Ms. Yolanda!
I am SO THRILLED to be sending this email and very appreciative of being invited to this
ceremony! After seeing you on campus a year ago, I haven't forgotten how wonderful it
was to see you and know that I wasn't alone. I finally did it, I'M GRADUATING! My
2 song choices are both by Earth, Wind & Fire (since I'm old now) and they are
"Keep Your Head to the Sky" and "Mighty Mighty." I hope you and the
family are well, stay safe and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Hope to see others at the event.
