Good morning all, Please join me in congratulating Brandy Barksdale as the recipient of the 2017 Student Government University Life Award for Outstanding Academic Advisor. Below is an excerpt from her nomination. Brandy has been an outstanding advisor for nearly three years where she has been instrumental in shaping the landscape of advising in both processes and procedures at UTSA. Brandy has been involved both as a committee member and chair of several key committees and appointed by our Associate Vice Provost for Student Success and head of advising, Dr. Tammy Wyatt to the CLASS advising implementation TASK force. Brandy has emerged as a truly inspiring, and compassion leader in the advising community at UTSA, and has served in a mentor role, training new advisors as well as developing and implementing "Soft Skills" training to the advising department. Brandy volunteers her time on many important committees that have impacted student retention. She shows genuine concern and compassion for students, and is always looking for new ways to help them succeed in their major. Congratulations again Brandy!
