Subject: OIT Student Computing Services FS Lab moving into DT Library
This message has been sent on behalf of the UTSA Office of Information Technology
OIT Student Computing Services FS Lab is moving into the DT Library starting 2016 Spring
Semester!
Over the winter break, OIT's Student Computing Services will move the Frio Street
Computer Lab and student services into the Downtown Library.
* Starting in the 2016 Spring Semester, OIT will augment the Downtown Library services
with increased technical student support and assistance along with adding more computer
workstations.
* This more centralized model will offer the following benefits to our students:
* A centralized, consistent customer service experience for students at the
Downtown Campus, modeling the JPL Information Commons on the Main Campus - a one-stop shop
for library and computing assistance.
* 50+ additional computers in the library to meet student demand.
* OIT Student Computing staff stationed in the library to provide students with
on-site technical support such as Print Spot assistance; Passphrase account resets; Wi-Fi
connections to Air Rowdy; Software assistance.
* Ease of access. A convenient, prime location on the second floor of the Buena
Vista Building near the elevators, stairwell and multiple lecture halls.
* Please note: OIT will keep the FS Lab internal 24-seat computer classroom (FS
2.402) and 16-seat computer classroom (FS 2.406) available for reservations during the
Spring Semester.
* These rooms may be reserved Monday - Thursday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday 8 a.m.
to 5 p.m. on a first come first served basis. To reserve either classroom space, email
your request to SCS@utsa.edu<mailto:SCS@utsa.edu>, attention Roxann Koch.
The UTSA Downtown Campus community can expect these changes to be in place when they
return for the start of the Spring 2016 semester. For questions or further information,
please contact Linda Dunn<mailto:linda.dunn@utsa.edu> in the Office of Information
Technology.
