Meet Robert Green

Robert Green earned his MA and PhD at the University of California at Santa Barbara. He
has been an educator and advisor for nearly a decade. Before relocating to Texas with his
family, he lived in New England.

Meet Emily Hemmitt
Academic Advising Unit: Math and Physical Sciences
My name is Emily Hemmitt, I have a Master's in Sociology and my life's passion is
community building. I previously lived in New York City for 4 years, where I worked,
lived, and studied in one of the world's largest cultural hubs. I am a UTSA alumni and
a proud first-generation college graduate! I am very excited to bring my talents and
experiences back to my alma mater. I love biking, cooking, and hiking. I have an open-door
policy where students and colleagues can feel free to pop in and have a quick chat if
necessary. I look forward to getting to know everyone!

Meet Derek Kubacki
Academic Advising Unit: Downtown
Derek was born at Ft Knox, KY into a military family and grew up from base to base until
he joined the Army in Fayetteville, NC; the town he now calls home. Following a 22+ year
career in the Army as a flight medic, he continued in the medical field as an ER Tech in
Floresville, TX. He obtained his BA in History from Texas A&M University - San Antonio
and his MA in Political Science right here at UTSA. He is excited to be starting a new
chapter in his life and career here at UTSA.

Meet Elder McCants

Hello, my name is Elder McCants. I come to UTSA after spending the last nine years as an
instructor at San Antonio College. I have experience working with students from diverse
backgrounds and am excited to make this transition to advising. My goal will be to advise
in a manner that aligns with student's interests, skill sets, and schedules. In my
spare time, I enjoy reading, going to movies, exercising, and playing my saxophone.

Meet Michael Thomas
Academic Advising Unit: Downtown
Hi, my name is Michael, and I am a 2-time graduate from UTSA. I have a Bachelor of Arts
degree in Multidisciplinary Studies, with concentrations in Sociology, Spanish, and
Political Science, and a Master of Science degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. I
obtained prior higher education experience, as I was a Graduate Intern for the UTSA
University Career Center from Fall 2018 to Spring 2019. I am very excited to join the
Academic Advising team at UTSA, and I am looking forward to furthering my knowledge,
experience and talent while serving students at my alma mater. In my free time, I enjoy
being active, swimming, bowling, and doing word searches. GO RUNNERS!

Meet Cristina Trejo
Academic Advising Unit: Life and Health Sciences
Hello, my name is Cristina Trejo and I am extremely happy to join the academic advising
team! I am really looking forward to working with you to help students succeed in their
dreams of a higher education degree. I have a strong commitment and passion to help and
assist students in pursuing higher education. It is my personal goal and aspiration to
help students overcome barriers to achieve their higher education degree. I have three
years of experience in higher education as a Disability Services Specialist. My
educational background includes a Bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University,
College Station in Agricultural Leadership and a Masters from the University of Texas at
San Antonio in Education and Human Development: Educational Leadership and Policy
Studies.
I am a team player that embraces the collaborative spirit of a great department such as
academic advising to help our Roadrunner family.
